Kenneth has learned a new word and is making use of it just about every day. We are a bit embarrassed to report that this new word is "TeeBee", or in adult-speak, "television". It all started with an innocent showing of the Teletubbies, the drug of choice for little boys and girls around the world. We didn't intend for this to happen. It just sort of happened, accidently...

Kenneth messmerized with CBBC (children's BBC, home of the Teletubbies and more). Note that he is at least sitting in the official "TeeBee" chair at a safe distance from the screen and that suspicious purple Teletubbie. And, like most guys, he is only wearing his undies in front of the tube.
We had every intention of following the American Academy of Pediatrics recommendation that children under two years of age refrain from watching television. However, there are some mornings when certain CBBC programs have proven to be very useful, such as when he wakes up at 6:45am on a weekend morning or when we are both busy getting ready for work on a weekday morning and can't actively play with him. We decided to compromise and follow a modified version of Babycenter.com's television-watching guidelines: he gets maximum 20 minutes in the morning and only the following CBBC shows: FIMBLES, BALAMORY, and of course, TELETUBBIES, his favorite!
Having set the guidelines, we still had to deal with the issue of his wanting to join the Teletubbies by running up to the screen and pressing his hands and face against them. We kept telling him to sit on the floor, but he would look up at us with sad eyes as we happily relaxed on our comfortable sofas. Now he has his own chair, which even came with a little boy sized footrest. Even dad is sometimes envious.
There. That will keep the problem in check, but still let him get his Teletubbies fix. Of course, it only a matter of time until he discovers the internet, Gameboys, Playstations, and X-Boxes.
Thanks for the updates. I was so excited to read the blogs. He looks so grown up in his big boy chair. See you all soon.
Ha Ha - it's a downward slide from Teletubbies. Don't go the TiVo route, or you're doomed. Now our kids think I can just pause any TV they are watching, and magically bring up Go Diego Go or Kim Possible wherever we are!! Kenny is getting so big - what a cutie. His Grandma Kim is out in the Wild West with Laura's parents and reportedly caught several rainbow trout yesterday! Take care!
I know from where you speak! There is no substitute for the Disney channel during certain late-afternoon/early-evening times when everyone just needs a break. Thank goodness for Dragon Tales (and Caillou and Clifford etc., etc.)
He has got to be the cutest little boy I've seen. When my boys were little they were really in to He-Man, Mr. Rogers, Sesame Street (three times a day) and the Smurfs.
I guess I've never had an opportunity to even see the TeleTubbies. I don't know if that's a good or bad thing. :)
