In his first picture of 2006, Kenneth is modelling his brand-new Zewi Fix-Decke, the Swiss solution to newly-mobile but overly-eager babies. Despite appearances to the contrary, the Fix-Decke is neither cruel and unusual punishment for bad kids, nor a new invention from Guantanamo Bay. Instead, it's just a light bedsheet which zips up the baby and still allows plenty of freedom of movement, such as sitting straight up or turning 180 degrees.
It does, however, prevent the baby from standing up and trying to climb out of the crib. It's not that Kenneth has actually climbed out of his crib yet, but he definitely loves to pull himself up using the crib guardrails in an attempt to leisurely stroll around his sleeping area. Since he pretty much lacks walking skills at the moment, the result is usually a mighty fall and a bonk on his head. This routine would occur repeatedly during the night.
The Fix-Decke is our answer to protect the little boy's precious and still developing brain. So far, after two nights, he doesn't seem to mind it and we get a little bit more peace of mind during the night.
I LOVE that idea. Of course, he looks adorable as always.
Hello:
Yes, Zewideckis are great!! I have a 19 month old boy who LOVES his, and it is on a single bed because baby brother needed the cot. My 5 mo boy is just getting used to his zewi. They are indeed the answer to night time peace of mind.

Is there any way the baby could work his/her way out of the vest part and under the blanket? It looks a bit alarming to me. My 16 month old twins can get out of their sleeping bag/suits (the kind with vest top that clips at the shoulders) so the Zewideck would worry me a lot. Imagine if a baby got trapped under the blanket?
Hi, luckily that never happened to our Houdini (our first born) and I have never heard of any cases--but one never knows. I haven't had the need to use the Zewideck on our 2nd child. Unlike how her brother was at that age, she is content to stay in her crib and hasn't tried to climb out yet. However, she is a restless sleeper and rolls all around her crib. I hear her bonking her head against the crib walls in the middle of the night sometimes. For that reason, I have considered bringing the old Zewideck out for her but have been too lazy. Now your comments also make me hesitate about using it on her...
