Despite the extra help, rest assured that our life is still hectic. Here’s what a typical day looks like for us:
5:30 Kenny makes his first morning broadcast; a sleepy Nina puts the pacifier in his mouth at 15-minute intervals for the next hour or so.
6:30 Baby sweet talk turns to baby wailing; Nina nurses Kenny and sings Gymboree songs to him while getting ready for work.
7:00 Nina brings a very verbose Kenneth into the bedroom; Kevin now awake.
7:15 Nina out the door to arrive at work by 7:30.
7:30 Urgent need for a diaper change convinces Kevin to bring toxic Kenny out of the bed.
7:45-8:15 Kevin gets ready for work while entertaining Kenny; Kevin and Kenny feed the fish together; Kevin stops Kenny from tasting the fish food.
8:30 Kevin drops Kenny off at day care
8:45 Kevin arrives at work and wipes away baby drool spots while waiting for his PC to start.
10:00 Kenny gets a bottle of pumped breast milk for his mid-morning snack.
13:30 Kenny’s lunch (homemade carrot-potato puree for lunch, courtesy of the Krippe’s cook, Lila). Afterwards, Kenny enjoys playtime and an afternoon nap.
13:30 Nina has lunch and closes the door to her office to pump some breast milk.
16:30 Nina rushes out of work.
16:45 - 17:00 Depending on traffic (oh no, not another DJ Bobo concert!), Nina arrives at the Krippe and nurses Kenny for his afternoon snack and drops off a bottle of breast milk for tomorrow.
17:30 -18:15 Arrival home; Nina and Kenny enjoy some play time.
18:15 Kenny gets his dinner (vegetable or fruit puree)
18:30 - 19:15 Bath time with daddy.
19:15 - 19:30 Kenny has a “dessert” nursing session and goes to bed.
19:45 Kenny still not convinced he needs to sleep; the pacifier comes to the rescue.
20:00 Kevin and Nina eat dinner and enjoy some free time. Sometimes there are even a few moments to work on the blog.
22:30 Kevin and Nina hit the sack. Nina has showered, picked out tomorrow’s clothes, and prepared her lunch.
5:30 (6:30 on a good day) Repeat.
